Jeep Wrangler: STOP/START SYSTEM — MANUAL TRANSMISSION (IF EQUIPPED) / Autostop Mode
WARNING!
- Vehicles with the Stop/Start system will be
equipped with two batteries. Both the main
and the supplemental batteries must be
disconnected to completely de-energize the
12 Volt electrical system.
- Serious injury or death could result if you do
not disconnect both batteries. To learn how
to properly disconnect, see an authorized
dealer.
The Stop/Start feature is enabled after every
driver ignition start. It will remain in STOP/START
NOT READY until you drive forward with a vehicle
speed greater than 5 mph (8 km/h). At that time,
the system will go into STOP/START READY and
if all other conditions are met, can go into an
STOP/START AUTO STOP ACTIVE mode.
To Activate The STOP/START AUTO STOP ACTIVE Mode, The Following Must Occur:
- The system must be in STOP/START READY
state. A STOP/START READY message will be
displayed in the instrument cluster.
- Vehicle speed must be less than 2 mph
(3 km/h).
- The gear selector must be in the NEUTRAL
position and the clutch pedal must be fully
released
The Engine Stop/Start (ESS) function is
developed to reduce fuel consumption. The
system will stop the engine automatically during
a vehicle stop if the required conditions are
met...
Prior to engine shut down, the system will check
many safety and comfort conditions to see if
they are fulfilled. Situations when the engine
will not stop include (but not limited to):
Driver’s seat belt is not buckled...
Other information:
FCA US LLC recommends towing with all wheels
OFF the ground. Acceptable methods are to tow
the vehicle on a flatbed or with one end of the
vehicle raised and the opposite end on a towing
dolly.
If flatbed equipment is not available and the
transfer case is operable, the vehicle may be
towed (in the forward direction, with ALL wheels
on the ground), IF the transfer case is in
NEUTRAL (N) and the transmission is in PARK
(P) (for automatic transmissions) or in gear NOT
in NEUTRAL, for manual transmissions)...
In the event that the ACC system brings your
vehicle to a standstill while following a vehicle
ahead, your vehicle will resume motion, without
any driver interaction, if the vehicle ahead
starts moving within two seconds of your vehicle
coming to a standstill...
