Jeep Wrangler: HOOD / Closing The Hood
If applicable, refer to the “Hybrid Supplement”
for additional information.
To close the hood, remove the support rod from
the slot and replace it on the hood panel
retaining clip. Lower the hood slowly. Secure
both of the hood latches.
WARNING!
Be sure the hood is fully latched before
driving your vehicle. If the hood is not fully
latched, it could open when the vehicle is in
motion and block your vision. Failure to follow
this warning could result in serious injury or
death.
CAUTION!
To prevent possible damage, do not slam the
hood to close it. Use a firm downward push at
the front center of the hood to ensure that
both latches engage. Do not fully open and
rest the hood on the windshield.
If applicable, refer to the “Hybrid Supplement”
for additional information.
Release both the hood latches.

Other information:
Prior to engine shut down, the system will check
many safety and comfort conditions to see if
they are fulfilled. Situations when the engine
will not stop include (but not limited to):
Driver’s seat belt is not buckled.
Outside temperature is less than 10°F
(–12°C) or greater than 109°F (43°C)...
FCA advocates driving at safe speeds and
within posted speed limits. Where speed limits
or conditions are such that the vehicle can be
driven at high speeds, maintaining correct tire
inflation pressure is very important. Increased
tire pressure and reduced vehicle loading may
be required for high-speed vehicle operation...
