Jeep Wrangler: NORMAL OPERATION — DIESEL ENGINE / Stopping The Engine
After full load operation, idle the engine for a
few minutes before shutting it down. This idle
period will allow the lubricating oil and coolant
to carry excess heat away from the
turbocharger.
NOTE:
Refer to the following chart for proper engine
shutdown.

NOTE:
Under certain conditions the engine fan will run
after the engine is turned off. These conditions
are under high load and high temperature
conditions.
Avoid prolonged idling, long periods of idling
may be harmful to your engine because
combustion chamber temperatures can drop so
low that the fuel may not burn completely...
To reduce the potential for engine and
transmission overheating in high ambient
temperature conditions, take the following
actions:
City Driving — When stopped, shift the transmission
into NEUTRAL (N) and increase
engine idle speed...
Other information:
The ESC Activation/Malfunction
Indicator Light in the instrument
cluster will come on when the ignition
is turned to the “ESC On” mode. It
should go out with the engine running. If the
ESC Activation/Malfunction Indicator Light
comes on continuously with the engine running,
a malfunction has been detected in the ESC
system...
In order to ensure brake system performance,
all brake system components should be
inspected periodically. For the proper
maintenance intervals.
WARNING!
Riding the brakes can lead to brake failure
and possibly a collision. Driving with your foot
resting or riding on the brake pedal can result
in abnormally high brake temperatures,
excessive lining wear, and possible brake
damage...
